Halloween is drawing near, and some students are still out searching for costumes. The Western Front caught up with students and shop owners to get their take on this year's hottest digs and get some ideas for last-minute costumes.

We don’t have a lot of scary costumes, but we do have a lot of ghoul masks; I would consider those scary,” Mad Hatter employee Claudia Anderson said. “Since we have vintage clothes they tend to be more fun and friendly. People add their own special effects to them.

Someone asked me if we had a moo-cow costume,” Value Village costume consultant Lisa Patterson said. “The way he phrased it was the best.

Students weigh in
Western freshmen Hana Nelson and Courtney Espianoza said they plan to make their own costumes. Neither Nelson nor Espianoza planned on dressing up, but when Nelson spotted a big round pair of faux eyewear at Charlotte Russe, she said knew they had a costume.
The two decided to base their costume on sthe television show “Glee” by dressing up as “gleeks.”
A trip to Michael’s Arts & Crafts store provided Nelson
and Espianoza with cheap T-shirts and letterman-style letters, which they hastily ironed on before making an appearance at a Halloween-themed dance in Edens Hall.
“I looked at Wet Seal for cheap shirts but we ended up going to Michael’s for all of it,” Nelson said. “It’s definitely a good place to go if you are making your own
costume.”
“I have a lot of shirts thanks to Michael’s,” Espianoza said.
Western freshman Alison Crabb said she will be trekking to Seattle for Halloween and wants to dress up as something silly with her friend.
“We’ll be going as a cat and cat vomit,” Crabb said. “I’m not a huge fan of pre-made costumes. I’m going to cut up a brown shirt and get some hairball-looking material.”“When I see the college kids, they are usually traveling in packs,” Patterson said. “Usually the guys all come in together.”
