On Jan. 25 applications for a new Campus Community Coalition coordinator will begin being reviewed. The coalition is a Western organization created to try to prevent problems regarding students misuse of alcohol, as well as help students understand what they can do to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The former coordinator, Lara Welker, resigned in November after six years at Western. The coordinator of the coalition works on projects with groups such as the Hospitality Resource Alliance, a group Welker said was comprised of law enforcement personnel and bar owners to promote responsible hospitality to Bellingham's nightlife. "It is an exciting time to be in this organization because there are so many big changes happening with health care reform initiatives," Welker said.
